That "IEEE 802.11-DS" is just a hard coded string that is returned no matter what card is used..

Rate command is not really yet supported in Master mode (i.e., it is not used for anything even though you can set it). Bit rate seems to be fixed to 2 Mbps even though 11 Mbps was used. However, this is changed in the CVS version to report last used TX rate.
